Currently I am embarking on the adventure of moving from sea level (Santa Cruz, CA) to 3500 ft high where there is regular snow and freezes in the wintertime near the Oregon/Nevada border. I first thought I would be uncomfortable in the cold, but upon reaching 5000ft summit on the way to our land, I felt complete calm. No shivers despite the temperature, no muddling worrysome thoughts, only the whisper of the Shema from my lips in the silence of the mountaintops. I was in that moment, on a peak, experiencing an elevated moment. I also came to appreciate the connection to nature, and decided we’ll build our home from the rich clay soil in the area to keep that connection alive, work synergistically and be effecient.
That’s amazing! Sometimes the Shema is the only possible response. Many blessings to you in your new mountain home. I look forward to seeing photos.
